The house is situated in a private park surrounded by gardens and greenery. Despite its proximity to the town, it offers guests a quiet and relaxing location for their stay.
Visitors are also welcome to enjoy the gardens, which feature a collection of flowering shrubs and plants – including magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons, azaleas and hydrangeas – which provide year-round colour and interest.
Breakfast is served in Ivy House’s large dining room, which features antique furniture and collections. The room offers a view over the garden and gets the morning sun. During winter weekends, we make use of the room’s open fire-place, so guests can enjoy a warming log fire as they eat their breakfasts.
We aim to source all our food and produce as locally as possible – including some from the Ivy House garden!
Eggs – are sourced from local Cornish free-range hens.
Fruit – including apples, plums, strawberries, raspberries and rhubarb – come from the Ivy House garden, when in season. Out of season, we use up any surplus fruit from the freezer. Other fruit and vegetables come from our local greengrocer in St Austell.
Dairy products – including milk, butter, yoghurt and clotted cream – all come from a dairy a few miles from St Austell, who take their milk from farms in the local area.
Meat products come from our local butcher in St Austell, who buy their meat from Cornish farmers.
We also offer home-made marmalade and other jams – as well as a varied selection of home-made products including muffins, pancakes and other cakes.
The menu includes options for Vegetarians and Vegans – and we seek to accommodate other dietary requirements too.
The breakfast menu changes depending on the seasonal availability of products – and is also added to to reflect events such as Christmas, Easter, fruit harvest, etc.
