Lochailort Inn Scottish Country Hotel Lochailort Fort William Scotland Property Description

The friendly Lochailort Inn, run by its owners John and Ellen Ferguson, is a traditional Scottish country hotel, open to visitors and local folk alike and where you can always be assured of a warm welcome. Set in a stunning location above Loch Ailort and surrounded by the rugged hills of Moidart, the Lochailort is a haven of peace and quiet - nowhere is more ideal for a relaxing holiday.

Known to be open in the 1870s (and almost certainly much earlier as a drovers' inn), the Lochailort Inn was rebuilt in the 1990s, but has kept its original character.

The inn, with every modern facility, stands alongside the original Road to the Isles, nowadays the A830 between Fort William and Mallaig.

The West Highland Railway follows the road for much of its length and the Lochailort Inn is only 300m from the nearest station.

Lochailort Inn Scottish Country Hotel Lochailort Fort William Scotland Room Information

The Lochailort Inn has four double and seven twin rooms. Every room is centrally-heated with an en-suite bathroom and has provision for tea and coffee-making.

Bed and breakfast costs £37.50 per person per night if two people use the room - single occupancy is £42.50 per night. Discounts are available for long stays.

Please note that late check-in (after 8pm) is by prior arrangement only.

If you want some quiet time away from the bustle of the bar, there is a guest conservatory off the main bar. For guests wanting privacy during their meals, a separate dining room is available.


The Lochailort offers a wide variety of fare, whatever the time of day. At breakfast, the hungry guest will love our full Scottish breakfast. Choose your breakfast before you retire to bed and just let us know.

At lunchtime, served from 12.00 noon, you can choose from our delicious bar menu (click for a typical lunch menu) - and we have daily specials on the board in the bar. A tasty Kids' Menu is available for any youngsters in your party.

Please note that as well as our popular dining area in the bar, a private dining room is available to guests if required.
